Man arrested in connection with fatal traffic collision in Stockport

A man has been arrested for causing death by dangerous driving, following an incident on Buxton Road yesterday (9 November).

The 29-year-old male was driving a vehicle along Buxton Road when it mounted the pavement on its nearside and collided with a pedestrian near to the junction of Fence Street.

The pedestrian - a 77 year old male - was taken to hospital, where he tragically died as a result of injuries sustained during the collision.

Former Pizza Express Cheadle up for sale for £785k

The site of the former Pizza Express restaurant in Cheadle is up for sale for £785,000 (subject to contract). 

The Pizza Express branch has now closed permanently - the building has been available to move into since late October. 

In addition to the shop front and ground floor, the site also boasts upstairs office space, and parking for five vehicles at the rear of the premises.

Stockport homeless charity to host sponsored 'sleepout'

A homeless charity hosted a sponsored sleepout event in Stockport town centre this weekend.

Homeless charity The Wellspring was joined by its supporters in an annual sleepout, where participants spent the night sleeping on the street.

The event was organised with the aim of spotlighting the work the charity does, and to raise the funds that will enable their work to continue.
