Network Rail asked to address 'eyesore' advertising board near Cheadle

Network Rail have been told to sort out an "eyesore" in Stockport which a local councillor said is ruining the look of the area for residents and visitors.
The company has a digital advertising board on its land on Stockport Road near Roscoe's roundabout, but the board is currently out of use and fenced off.
Cllr David Meller has urged the company to act after trying "for over a year" to get an update about when it will be fixed.
"People have been very patient about this thing but mine has now finally snapped," the Cheadle East and Cheadle Hulme North councillor said.
"It isn't fair that we've had to put up with this for so long, thousands of people pass this every day by coming off the M60 or simply just using Stockport Road.
"It creates a poor impression on Cheadle Heath and Cheadle as a whole. Enough is enough."
The roundabout has a sliproad to the M60 and is a key route for drivers coming to Cheadle or heading out to other parts of Greater Manchester.
Network Rail confirmed it owns the land and digital advertising board, and that it is trying to resolve the issue.
"We are currently working with the Local Planning Authority to approve minor amendments to the surrounding land to ensure the advertising screen can run safely," a spokesperson said.
"Once approved, we will complete the installation and activate the screen.
"Safety is our top priority and that's why we must keep the fencing in place as it ensures security of the site and prevents vandalism until the screen is up and running.
"We understand the concerns raised and thank the community for their patience during this time."
