Family of Robert Palmer pays tribute after he was killed following collision with vehicle

A local grandfather, Robert Palmer, has been formally identified as the 77-year-old man who was killed after a vehicle mounted the pavement and collided with him on Buxton Road near to junction of Fence Street in Stockport last week.
He was taken to hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Paying tribute to him, his family have said the following: "Our beloved Robert (Bob) was taken from us too early and so suddenly that our family, friends and community are struggling to come to terms with our loss.
"A family man and grandad, Robert will be deeply missed and we have been overwhelmed by the showing of emotion and support by the many people that knew and loved him."
His family have asked for their privacy to be respected at this time whilst they continue to grieve for their loss.
It comes not long after a 29-year-old man was arrested for causing death by dangerous driving.
Detectives from Greater Manchester Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or have an CCTV or dash cam footage to contact them on 0161 856 4741, quoting log 1288 of 09/11/2023.
