Canal Street in Stockport town centre has been decorated with a plethora of murals and street artworks.

Organised by GRIT Studios, the project saw around 20 artists descend on the area over the weekend, painting walls, shutters, and even vehicles, utilising different methods and different styles.

This is not the first street art project in the town centre, nor is it the last - rather, it represents one installment in a general project of beautification across the town centre.

Many readers will no doubt be familiar with GRIT Studios as the artists behind La Boca to La Stocka and Art Battle, two artistic projects which contributed massively to the art scene in Stockport.

What's more, plans are in the works to paint Edgeley with a series of murals, and a further four artworks are planned for the Underbanks in Stockport town centre.

This most recent series on Canal Street is now visible to all; head down and have a look, as there are far more not included in the pictures.

Indeed, as the legendary medieval travel writer Sir John Mandeville said: "I do not want to say any more [...] so that others [...] can find new things to speak of which I have not mentioned."
