A new Tesco store will be opening soon at Merseyway shopping centre.

The new branch sits just outside the Mersey Square entrance, on the site of the former Argos store.

Although an official opening date has yet to be announced for the new shop, Tesco is expected to confirm a date in due course.

Signage for the new store has now gone up, with work on the interior underway.

There was formerly a Tesco branch in the centre, but after its closure the closest branch has been the Extra store at Portwood.

It comes following a string of new town centre openings, including a new JD store, a Starbucks, and a new Poundland.
