The Hesketh Tavern has re-opened after having been closed for around 18 months.

The well-known Cheadle Hulme pub opened its doors once again yesterday (Thursday 3 October).

It comes following a massive £350,000 refurbishment, comprising an extensive redecoration, a new games room, cosy seating areas, and much more. There is also an increase in external seating, including a terrace at the front and a new patio area.

The pub aims to be a "top-quality neighbourhood local", offering affordable food and drink, live entertainment, sports, and a dog-friendly environment.

The refurbishment was undertaken by Heineken-owned firm, Star Pubs. 20 new jobs will be created as a result of the investment.

Experienced publicans Pawel Galazka and Rafal Zejmo have taken on the running of the pub with the intention of making it "a real hub for the community".

"We're delighted to be opening the doors of The Hesketh to the public", Pawel said. "A couple of local residents popped in before opening to have a look and thought the pub looked fantastic, as do we.

"They're thrilled the day has finally arrived for it to open again; there's real excitement in the air.

"Rafal and I, as well as our dogs Lola and Nora, already feel at home in Cheadle Hulme, thanks to members of the community.  It's our turn now, to extend a warm welcome to local residents. If we haven't already met you, please come and say hello."

As well as reasonably-priced food and drink, their plans for The Hesketh include regular live music, quiz nights, a monthly comedy night and televised sports on Sky and TNT. And for those interested in pool and darts, they're keen to set up teams and for them to compete in local leagues.

The couple also intend to put on family events throughout the year including a bouncy castle in the garden, Halloween and Christmas activities.

The kitchen has also received its fair share of funds, with new upgrades to cater for a wide-ranging menu. The menu features classics such as burgers, fish & chips, pies and steaks, plus some international favourites such as tacos, noodles, and curries.

Further still, a range of technological upgrades behind the bar will keep drinks cooler, whilst maintaining energy efficiency.

The drinks offer includes a range of beers, from Fosters, Amstel and Birra Moretti to Beavertown. There will also be cider, wine, an extensive range of spirits, zero alcohol and soft drinks and fresh coffee.
