Construction work has begun to transform a vacant eight-acre brownfield site into 206,000 sq ft of modern industrial and office units.

The redevelopment of the Vauxhall Industrial Estate in Reddish will see up to 28 new buildings created across six blocks, and will create around 700 new jobs.

The new site will also have strong green credentials, with 56 electric vehicle charging points, rooftop solar panels, and an 'A' energy rating.

Foundation works have been completed and the installation of steel frames and cladding is now under way for each block.

The units are scheduled to be available for lease from the second quarter of 2024.

'Massive' disruption expected in Stockport due to work at Armoury roundabout

Extensive work is planned for the Armoury roundbaout between Stockport town centre and Edgeley, due to start in 2025 (Image - Google Maps)

Huge disruption is expected across Stockport due to major engineering work being planned – and it could last nine months.

Network Rail is planning to replace Greek Street Bridge, which supports the Armoury roundabout, as well as Stockholm Road Bridge – due to their deteriorating condition.

Both are road over rail bridges and major routes for cars in the town. There are concerns that the disruption at The Armoury roundabout could result in cars having to use residential streets to cross the borough.

The work is expected to begin in early 2025 and take around nine months to complete in total, impacting traffic and pedestrians in Stockport.

Plans have been submitted to Stockport Council to convert the former Dog and Partridge pub into a Sainsbury's Local store.

Originally, planning approval was granted to demolish the site and convert it to a Co-op store. However, since then, Co-op has withdrawn from the scheme.

Sainsbury's has since acquired the site, and has submitted an application to amend Co-op's already-approved plans for a new convenience store. These new plans would slightly change the layout and planned delivery times.
