A local football team for young children won the 'once-in-a-lifetime' opportunity to train at Manchester City.

Stockport Dynamos under-eights, made up of boys and girls from Edgeley, were nominated for the trip after showing "commitment, positivity and a love of football well beyond their years".

Dynamos were nominated as part of a competition organised by Manchester City in partnership with sleep brand Silentnight, which aimed to celebrate and reward grassroots football teams.

As part of their prize, the team were invited to an exclusive training session delivered by a Manchester City Coach at City's Football Academy early in September.

The players also received Manchester City kits and Silentnight Healthy Growth Kids' mattresses.

"The children were absolutely buzzing when they found out they had won", said Hannah, coach of Stockport Dynamos Under 8s.

"It's something they'll be talking about for a long time. They turn up every week with so much enthusiasm and make the most of every session, so seeing them get the chance to train at the City Football Academy was really special.

"They did us proud. They worked hard, backed each other and enjoyed every minute. For a grassroots team like ours, experiences like this mean so much, and we're really grateful to Silentnight and Manchester City for giving them a day they'll never forget."
