William Wragg, MP for Hazel Grove, has revealed to The Times that he gave the numbers of other MPs to someone he met on a dating app.

The MP, who is also vice-chair of the 1922 committee, said he had met a man on the app Grindr. After exchanging pictures, the man started asking for numbers of people.

Mr Wragg told the newspaper: "They had compromising things on me. They wouldn't leave me alone."

He added: "They would ask for people. I gave them some numbers, not all of them. I told him to stop. He's manipulated me and now I've hurt other people.

"I was scared. I'm mortified. I'm so sorry that my weakness has caused other people hurt."

New spiral ramp and coffee shop set to open in Stockport interchange

A new spiral ramp will open at Stockport Interchange near the end of April, as will a new coffee shop (Image - TfGM)

When the first buses rolled out of Stockport interchange last month, it marked a landmark moment for the town which is undergoing huge change.

The £140 million project is at the heart of Stockport's regeneration plans, and has led to the opening of Viaduct Park and the creation of 200 new apartments.

But work hasn't stopped there, as there are more improvements taking place this month for residents to look forward to.

Towards the end of April, a new spiral cycle and walking ramp is due to open, linking the town to the Trans Pennine Trail and a public area along the River Mersey.

It's hoped the new ramp will encourage more active forms of travel around the town, creating new routes for walkers and cyclists and reducing traffic.

A new police post for officers has been agreed for Stockport town centre.

The new base will see "enhanced officer numbers on the high street", supporting an expanded town centre police team.

Described as a policing 'hub', the new post will be based in the 'heart' of the town centre.

The new post will also be bigger than its predecessor, something which police sergeant Jim Senior says will make police services more accessible to the public.

Stockport has another accolade to add to its burgeoning list - perhaps one we wouldn't have expected, but which is no less important for that!

The town's latest superlative is home of the "largest recycled bottle cap mural in the UK".

The mural in question is a buzzing, vibrant scene showcasing Stockport's endangered wildlife, made of more than 80,000 bottle caps of all different colours and sizes.

It sits on a 18x4 metre stretch of Merseyway wall, opposite the air raid shelters, and was officially unveiled on 20 March.

The artist behind this remarkable project is Caitlin Atherton, with massive support from local residents and businesses.
