William Wragg, MP for Hazel Grove, has revealed to The Times that he gave the numbers of other MPs to someone he met on a dating app.
The MP, who is also vice-chair of the 1922 committee, said he had met a man on the app Grindr. After exchanging pictures, the man started asking for numbers of people.
Mr Wragg told the newspaper: "They had compromising things on me. They wouldn't leave me alone."
He added: "They would ask for people. I gave them some numbers, not all of them. I told him to stop. He's manipulated me and now I've hurt other people.
"I was scared. I'm mortified. I'm so sorry that my weakness has caused other people hurt."
It comes after Politico reported that 12 people working in Westminster had been targeted in what it describes as a "a suspected 'honey trap' scandal".
Among the 12 was a former MP, who received an unsolicited message from somebody calling themselves 'Charlie'.
As Politico reports: "When the former MP asked again who they were, the sender gave a surname and also the name of an MP they claimed to work for. [...]
"The next day the sender sent an explicit photo, at which point the former MP immediately blocked them."
Leicestershire Police is reportedly investigating one of the cases, reported in March.
A parliamentary spokesperson said: "Parliament takes security extremely seriously and works closely with government in response to such incidents.
"We provide members and staff with tailored advice, making them aware of security risks and how to manage their digital safety. We are encouraging anyone affected who has concerns to contact the Parliamentary Security Department."
