The Worker Bee Market and fun day which was due to take place in Edgeley on 6 April has been cancelled, the organisers have announced.

Due to forecasted winds of up to 40 miles per hour, there could have been a risk posed to traders and their stalls.

The event will be rescheduled for August 2024.

A spokesperson for Worker Bee Markets said: "It's with a heavy heart that Worker Bee Markets announces this morning that they are cancelling the outdoor Edgeley Artisan Market and Fun Day scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday 6 April.

"The forecast of 40+ mile an hour winds means it's not safe for traders to put up gazebos, nor would it be safe for customers. Safety is the main concern, even though, apart from the wind, it looked like a nice day!

"The event, which was to include a Fun Dog Show, run by charity Makants Greyhound Rescue, a sold out crochet workshop run by Made By Mel and music all day from Semitone Studios, will be rescheduled for a date in August, to be confirmed once Stockport County's 2024/25 fixtures have been announced."

The cancellation comes shortly after the Cheadle Makers Market, and the Heaton Moor Producers' Market, were also cancelled for the same weather reasons.
