The popular Mild Magic ale trail is returning to Stockport borough this spring.

The trail, organised by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), will run from Friday 11 April until Sunday 18 May.

In that time, those taking part are invited to try cask mild ales at participating pubs in Stockport and beyond (throughout Manchester and Cheshire).

The more pubs you visit, the better the rewards you can pick up.

To start winning prizes, you'll have to visit 12 different pubs in different areas, and sample at least a half pint of cask mild in each one. For this, you'll get a T-shirt emblazoned with this year's Mild Magic logo and beer vouchers for the upcoming Stockport Beer Festival in late June.

Incremental prize upgrades are available for visiting 24, 48, or 102 pubs.

All successful entrants will be included into a draw for a trip round Bollington Brewery in September.

Some of CAMRA's highlights on the list include The Northumberland Arms (Greater Manchester Pub of the Year), as well as the Samoel Oldknow which will feature a large range of milds for the trail.

Also of note is the recently opened Voltigeur in Romiley, and The Steelworks in Bredbury. All are easily accessible by the 383 and 384 Bee Network buses.

In Stockport Town Centre, the recently reopened White Lion is participating for the first time while other favourites such as the Petersgate Tap and The Magnet will offer a wide range of different milds during the five weeks.

Similarly, the Olde Vic in Edgeley has a good roster of beers coming on and this will include the strong Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby, last year's favourite of 'Mild Magicians', which is likely to last for less than a day!

Organiser Darren Berry said "I am very pleased that, once again, many local independent brewers and pubs have agreed to participate in our quest to find that rarest of heritage beer styles, mild ale.

"Milds come in many varieties, from dark to golden, and from low to high strength. With a great range of tastes, there will be something for everyone.

"Over 200 people enjoyed the trail experience last year and generated an estimated 4,000 pub visits. So have a lot of fun and at the same time, you will be supporting local hospitality businesses, because if we don't use them, we will lose them."
