A dog grooming business based in Hazel Grove is in the running for two prestigious awards.

Canine Co Dog Groomers on 12 Hazelwood Road is a finalist in the Animal Star Awards and the LuxLife Awards.

The team have been shortlisted in the Pet Groomer of the Year category for the Animal Star Awards, and Best pet groomer in the North West for LuxLife.

The winners will be decided by an experienced panel of judges in both awards ceremonies.

Founder Kate said to get so far was 'absolutely amazing'.

"It's nice to feel like all our hard work is paying off", she said. "It's been an emotional rollercoaster over the past few years, so it's so nice that the team is being recognised."

Kate founded the business in 2018, after having gained her qualifications in dog grooming in 2017.

"I've always loved working with animals", she explained.

"One of the best things is the reward you get for building up a relationship with the dogs - especially if they're young or nervous, it feels great to build up a sense of trust.

"Our groomers work one-on-one with the dogs so there's time to build that relationship.

"And we do take the welfare of the dogs really seriously. We have a nice salon - it's calm, it's relaxing, so it's not stressful for nervous pets."
