Stockport Council has announced 'Digifest' as an upcoming event in the Town of Culture programme.

The event is set to take place in February next year, and will feature a range of technology-themed events, along with lessons on digital skills.

Visitors can expect live-streams, workshops, as well as 'digital arts, movements and crafts'.

Cllr Julian continues: "Digifest will be lots of fun, but also educational. We want to showcase the diverse and creative aspects of digital technology. Learning new digital skills in a creative way can also open up new opportunities and benefits for people in many different areas of life."

It comes not long after Stockport took part in 'the UK's biggest digital inclusion campaign', Get Online Week.

A range of events and lessons in digital tuition took place, aimed not just at those who are not as digitally-savvy, but also at those already familiar with technology; these included tech-tryout days and smartphone photography classes.

We can expect something similar at Digifest, with more details due to be revealed soon.
