Council leader Cllr Mark Hunter of the Liberal Democrats has announced his cabinet. 

Each cabinet member holds a 'portfolio' of subjects and areas which they are responsible for. 

The positions are listed below. Note that all cabinet members are from the Liberal Democrat party.

Cllr Mark Hunter (Cheadle Hulme South) - Leader of the council

  • Cllr Hunter will be responsible for Association of Greater Manchester Authorities and Greater Manchester Combined Authority, policy and performance, strategic partnerships, communications, consultation and engagement.

Cllr Mark Roberts (Bredbury Green and Romiley) - Deputy leader of the council

  • Cllr Roberts will be repsonsible for the climate change and green agenda, which includes sustainability, waste, collection and recycling, clean air lead, and civil resilience. 

Cllr Wendy Meikle (Hazel Grove) - Children, families, and education

  • Cllr Meikle will be responsible for areas such as: fostering and adoption; children's social work teams; residential placements; services for young people; children with disabilities; children's centres; early intervention services; safeguarding; youth offending; schools (including improvement, admissions, organisation and governance, and home to school transport); early years; travel passes; Special Educational Needs support and services. 

Cllr Frankie Singleton (Hazel Grove) - Communities, culture, and sport

  • Cllr Singleton will be responsible for areas such as: libraries and museums, equality and diversity, public and community safety, community funds, as well as information, advice and guidance.

Cllr Colin MacAlister (Marple South and High Lane) - Economy, regeneration, and housing

  • Cllr MacAlister will be responsible for economic development and regeneration, specifically pertaining to: markets; district centres; planning; housing; housing capital and strategic growth; economic growth; employer engagement; inward investment; building control; adult education; apprenticeships. 

Cllr Jilly Julian (Cheadle East and Cheadle Hulme North) - Finance and resources

  • Cllr Julian will be responsible for finance in the following areas: estates and schools capital; council budget transformation; IT and digital transformation; contact centre; elections; revenue and benefits; STaR; HR and OD; legal and democratic services; business support. 

Cllr Keith Holloway (Cheadle Hulme South) - Health and adult social care

  • Cllr Holloway will be responsible for public health, health and wellbeing, learning disability services, as well as older people's and yound adult's services.

Grace Baynham (Norbury and Woodsmoor) - Parks, highways and transport services

  • Cllr Baynham will be responsible for areas such as: parks and open spaces; cemeteries and crematoria; transport and infrastructure; sustainable transport; highways maintenance; parking; street lighting; traffic services; street cleaning and gully maintenance.

Cllr Keith Holloway, Cllr Frankie Singleton, and Cllr Wendy Meikle have also been appointed to the health and wellbeing board.
