County 1 - Bradford 1: Hinchliffe to the rescue again in close-run game
Stockport County have picked up their first point of the season at home against Bradford City in a 1-1 draw.
Bradford were impressive in the first half and scored not long into the second, with a strike from Alex Pattison foiling County's attempt to play from the back.
County heads did not drop, however, with Olaofe scoring in the 80th minute.
The game saw a number of controversial decisions, including a late penalty awarded to Bradford, which keeper Hinchliffe saved, prompting a number of fans to consider renaming the Railway End to the 'Hinchliffe End'.
Hatters manager Dave Challinor criticised the decision, saying: "If the referee wants to give a penalty for that, fine. But you've got to be consistent. If that's a penalty, then the foul on Tanto 15 minutes earlier is a penalty."
Summarising the game, Challinor said he was 'really pleased' at County's effort, and with the fact that 'heads didn't drop'.
"From our perspective, [I'm] happy that we've taken something from it", he said. "Frustrated, because large parts of it were very good. This time, at least, we've got something to take home - we're on the board."
However, the gaffer also criticised what he perceived as simple mistakes, and lack of development from throw-ins - specifically, he thought the team was moving backwards rather than forwards.
He concluded by saying: "A point here against a good Bradford team, in the grand scheme of things, isn't the worst result. It's a bad result, because we've not got anything from the previous two games. We need to put a run together, get started, and we've done that tonight."
Bradford manager Mark Hughes seemed more optimistic about the result, but was nonetheless disappointed that his side didn't return to Yorkshire with a win.
"In the first half I thought we were by far the better team", he said.
The Bradford manager added that he thought his team 'deserved' the win, but said: "We'll take the draw. We were up against a strong team, and more than held our own.
