A tenant behind 'an extensive case of fly-tipping' has been prosecuted and ordered to pay damages of £4,000.

The tenant, based in Heaviley, was captured several times on CCTV. They were issued with a Community Protection Notice, which they failed to comply with.

The case was taken to Stockport Magistrates Court for prosecution on 16 November where the tenant was found guilty of breaching the Community Protection Notice.

Stockport Homes Group - which manages the council's housing stock - was heavily involved in working on this case. The group says it has a 'zero-tolerance approach to this criminal activity'.

A spokesperson for Stockport Homes said: "Stockport Homes Group works hard to maintain the neighbourhoods they manage and help customers and residents with any issues relating to anti-social behaviour, including fly-tipping.

Jenny Osbourne, Chair of the Board at Stockport Homes said: "The decision to pursue legal action is something that we take extremely seriously and do so to ensure that our customers and residents can live in clean communities safely."
