Three remarkable Stockport residents named among King's 2025 Birthday Honours list

Three local heroes in Stockport have featured in the King's birthday honours list, which was published on 13 June.
The list aims to "mark the extraordinary contributions and service of people across the UK".
There are more than 1,000 people on the list, including scientists, artists, volunteers, and other 'community champions'.
The three local champions were as follows:
Robert James Warren, of Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his services to fire and rescue.
Luba Brown, an executive officer with the Department for Work and Pensions, was made a medallist of the Order of the British Empire for services to Ukrainian refugees.
And William Sudworth, an organiser with the Duke of Edinburgh Award centre, was made a medallist of the Order of the British Empire for services to young people in Greater Manchester.

A spokesperson for Stockport Council said: "Big congratulations to Robert Warren, Luba Brown, and William Sudworth — all from Stockport — for being included in the King's Birthday Honours List 2025!
"Their incredible work in the community, youth services, and public safety has been rightfully recognised.
"We're so proud to see local people making a national impact!"
Honours are awarded by the monarch, but they're usually decided by recommendation from senior members of the government, or from the public.
They're made for people who have served and helped Britain and / or have made significant achievements in public life.
There were lots of other big names in the list this year, too.
Among the sportspeople were darts players Luke Littler and Luke Humprhies, as well as former England captain David Beckham. Former tennis player Virginia Wade also made the list.
Actor Gary Oldman was given a knighthood, and hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly were made MBEs for services to broadcasting.
