New Mexican restaurant opens in Stockport town centre
La Capilla is the newest addition to Stockport's Market Place, bringing a little piece of Mexico to the Pennine foothills.
The new eatery is in the old Blackshaws building, perched on a corner and in a perfect spot to survey the historic square.
This makes the second La Capilla restaurant in Stockport, with an existing Heaton Chapel branch having already proved a firm favourite.
Visitors can expect the same range of authentic, fresh Mexican cuisine; burritos, tacos, a range of small plates and sides, as well as a Saturday and Sunday brunch menu which features French toast, avocado and eggs, and more.

Stockport Council ‘not required’ to keep Marple Baths
Stockport Council has been advised that it would not be required to keep the site of the former Marple Baths at its current location in Marple village centre.

Inside Stockport Pyramid’s planned transformation into huge banqueting hall
Plans for a curry house in Stockport's famous Pyramid have been submitted – with drawings revealing proposals for a sprawling diner spanning four floors with three separate banquet halls.
Proposals for the curry house development show plans for a 350-seat dining space with a buffet area as well as private VIP rooms on the ground floor of the pyramid.
The first floor, if planning is granted, will have a large banquet hall with space for up to 700 people, along with a bar area and a bride's room for wedding events.
On the second floor will be two more banquet halls, seating 150 and 300 guests. On the third and fourth floors there are plans to create a space for furniture storage, and have office administration space.

Stockport Wilko store closes
Stockport's Wilko store completed its final day of trading on 14 September.
The old Wilko store is one of 71 locations across the country which will be acquired and converted by Poundland. However, some jobs may be saved, as Poundland says it will prioritise Wilko staff for the new stores.
The shelves were mostly empty as Wilko held a closing down sale, offering reductions on all of its stock.
