County add another three points to the table following an away win over MK Dons, claiming six points from two difficult away games.
Wins over the Dons and AFC Wimbledon may come as a surprise to some fans given the start to the season and the number of injuries. In any case, The Hatters are picking up momentum and have restored some confidence with these recent away victories.
As a whole, County looked promising in attack, with a sense that more than two goals could have been scored in this game.
A number of times County seem to have been vulnerable to set pieces and quick passing from the Dons. Still, a lack of precision up front and some poor crosses meant that many of MK Dons' attacks were foiled by County.
The game got off to a strong start, with Louie Barry securing his fifth goal in five games in the 17th minute from a cutting run on the left wing and a finish with the right foot; a manoeuvre which is becoming his speciality.
The Dons picked up an equaliser not long after, as Tommy Smith headed the ball home from a cross on the edge of the box.
The first half continued at a fast pace, until Nick Powell rounded off the half with his own header, finding a header from a Southam-Hales cross.
Although the Dons piled on the pressure in the second half, practically playing five players up front, the 1-2 score held firm, and the game ended for County.
In his post-match interview, Dave Challinor said: "Brilliant three points, really good performance. There's still stuff we need to get better at, without question, but a tough place to come and a really valuable three points."
"I thought we really merited the three points."
"Ultimately it's about being able to come and play a game, and hopefully send supporters [home happy], who pay their money and give up their time to come all this way.
"It's about Stockport County winning, and today we've won. That feels a whole lot better than the start of the season. All the fans go home happy."
