Farm wins licence challenge despite claims of ‘drug taking’ and ‘public urination’ during festivals

A Stockport farm which holds music festivals has won a licence challenge despite claims of ‘drug taking’ and ‘public urination’ from attendees.

Whitebottom Farm, in Compstall, saw off an application to review its premises licence over public safety and public nuisance grounds, after former Stockport councillor Becky Senior said local residents had experienced anti-social behaviour from festival-goers.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was asked about 'major structural deficiencies' at Stepping Hill Hospital, during Prime Minister's questions on 8 May. 

It comes following a report in The Guardian which found ceilings at Stepping Hill had fallen in, meaning patients had to be evacuated and scans cancelled.

New ‘family hubs’ to open in Stockport town centre

Three new family hubs will open in Stockport town centre this May - they aim to be a place where families and their children can receive advice and support (Images - Alasdair Perry)

Three new 'family hubs' will open in Stockport town centre this month. 

The aim of the hubs is to provide advice and support for parents and their children (aged from pre-birth through to the age of 19, or up to 25 for young people with special needs). 

The three new sites are Stopford House, Life Leisure, and the Cornerstone Building.

They will be staffed by professionals who have received relevant training - they will also be a place for other families to meet and share their own advice.
