New ‘family hubs’ to open in Stockport town centre
Three new 'family hubs' will open in Stockport town centre this month.
The aim of the hubs is to provide advice and support for parents and their children (aged from pre-birth through to the age of 19, or up to 25 for young people with special needs).
The three new sites are Stopford House, Life Leisure, and the Cornerstone Building.
They will be staffed by professionals who have received relevant training - they will also be a place for other families to meet and share their own advice.
Specifically, the hubs and their staff can offer support with infant feeding, education, language, mental health support, advice on relationships, and more.
The news comes not long after a similar family hub opened in Reddish in February.
These sites, and others elsewhere in the UK, form part of the UK Government's Family Hubs programme.
The borough's hubs have been brought about by Stockport Council, One Stockport, and Stockport NHS Trust.
A Stockport Council spokesperson said: "One Stockport Family Hubs form a vital part of One Stockport Local, which is bringing together help and support to make it easier for people to help themselves, their families, and those they care for."
For those interested in learning more, the three new sites will be hosting drop-in events this month.
