The House of Commons received a little extra piece of Stockport recently, as top local NHS chefs prepared a table dinner for MPs, high-profile NHS figures, and a number of other prominent guests.

Stepping Hill Hospital's 'chefs of the year' - Erica Bell and Shelley Pearson-Smith - prepared the main course.

The event was part of 75-year anniversary celebrations for the NHS, aiming to showcase the talent and ingenuity of NHS chefs.

The chefs were cooking within the normal day-to-day budget for an NHS kitchen, demonstrating the ability to innovate on a budget.

Figures at the table included Ruth May, NHS Chief Nurse, and Simon Corben, Director and Head of Profession for NHS Estates and Facilities at NHS England.

Also present were Lord Markham, and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department of Health and Social Care, and BBC MasterChef winner 2017 Dr Saliha Mahmood Ahmed.
