By Alasdair Perry 17th Mar 2026
A sex offender has been caught in Stockport with the aid of live facial recognition (LFR) cameras.
57-year-old Phillip Loxam, from Edgeley, was caught and arrested on 12 February when LFR vans were deployed to Stockport town centre.
Officers from Greater Manchester Police were alerted to Loxam's presence when he was detected by the cameras.
He was subsequently questioned and detained, and was found to have software on his phone which concealed his internet history, as well as a second unregistered mobile phone.
Loxam was sentenced to 20 months on 13 March at Minshull Street Crown Court after he admitted three breaches of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
He was previously sentenced to a 20-month prison sentence in July 2024 for seven breaches of his SHPO.
