Transport for Greater Manchester's (TfGM) 'business travel survey' remains open, inviting comments on transport from local businesses.

The aim of the survey is "to understand how businesses feel about the current public transport and active travel network in Greater Manchester, and what would encourage them to take up sustainable ways of traveling for their employees and business operations."

Responses will shape the development of Greater Manchester's Bee Network, providing advice to help shape services.

Readers may have heard the 'Bee Network' mentioned quite frequently, although what this proposal actually means may be less clear.

The Bee Network is often labelled as an 'integrated, London-style' transport network, involving cycle routes, buses and trams.

In an effort to reduce car usage, the proposal seeks to make these three travel options more viable and closely linked than they currently are. As the Bee Network proposal states: "By giving people a true alternative to the car, we will tackle many of our health, congestion and air quality issues in one go."

In receiving responses from local businesses, TfGM seeks to understand how best to encourage such sustainable travel to and from the workplace, including both customers and staff.

This in turn, TfGM argues, will play an important part in meeting Greater Manchester's ambitious target for becoming carbon neutral by 2038.

The deadline for responses is 11 August, so if you'd like to have your say be sure to do so before then.
