Six coronation events happening across Stockport over the next few days
For anybody who wants to celebrate this historic event in a more public environment, Stockport Nub News has you covered with these events.

Romiley Coronation Party | Sunday 6 May | 11am-4pm
Compstall Road (between Guywood Lane and Central Drive)
This free street party can be expected to be busy, if last year's platinum jubilee celebrations are anything to go by.
The event is hosted by Walk Ride Romiley, the Romiley Women's Institute, and Sustainable Living Romiley.
The council have given permission for Compstall road to be closed, and tables will be put out along the street for everyone to come down for a picnic; visitors can expect a bustling atmosphere.
There will be live entertainment and a dog show. Cocker Spaniels win an automatic prize!
Fancy dress is encouraged; come as your favourite royal or favourite Coronation Street character.
Coronation Tea Dance | Wednesday 10 May | 1.30-4pm
Stockport Town Hall Ballroom
This tea dance at the town hall is sure to evoke some regal splendour.
The following description is given on the town hall website: "Join us at our Coronation Themed Ballroom Tea Dance from 1.30pm until 4pm on Wednesday 10 May 2023 in the Town Hall Ballroom.
"The tea dance will be £4.15 per person with an optional dress theme of red, white and blue."

The Wheatsheaf, 205-209 Higher Hillgate
Head to the pub and raise a glass to the new king.
A description on The Wheatsheaf's Facebook Page says: "Join us next weekend 6-8 May for the king's coronation weekend and a 'right royal knees up'
"Saturday 6 May: Prizes for the 'best-dressed Brits' - anything royal or red, white or blue.
"Sunday 7 May: why not enter our 'coronation cake-off' competition? Entries to be here by 3pm, prizes for the winners."
Brookside Vintage Family Fun Fair - Coronation Weekend | Saturday 6 - Monday 8 May | (See centre opening times)
London Rd N, Poynton, Stockport SK12 1BY
Enjoy this fair at the Brookside Garden Centre and Miniature Railway, with a coronation twist.
A description on the website reads: "Keeling's Vintage Family Fun Fair is back at Brookside Garden Centre and Miniature Railway for a special weekend of fun and games to celebrate the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III.
"Step back in time with a visit to our original vintage fairground just as it would have been in days gone by.
"Experience our unique selection of children's rides, try your skills on a range of traditional funfair games, and take the whole family for a brisk ride on the 1930s 'Jungle Speedway'.
"Soak up the atmosphere and enjoy some of the best music from a summer long ago.
"We have also have something very special planned to commemorate the coronation of our new king so keep a look out on our Facebook page for more information in the lead up to the event.
"We are open from 11am - 4pm on May 6, 7 and 8. Find us at the far end of the main car park.
"Booking not required, tokens are available to purchase on arrival at the fair. There is no entry fee to the fairground so everyone is welcome to come along, even those that don't wish to ride.
"Tokens cost £2 each, all rides are one token per person and games cost one or two tokens each. We accept cash or contactless & card payments."
Heald Green Coronation Party | Saturday 6 May | 2pm-9pm
Village Hall Fields, Outwood Road, Heald Green
This field party features a DJ, children's entertainer, and a live band.
There will also be games, competitions, and stalls serving food, as well as a gin bar.
Visitors can bring their own food, and the event also offers free parking.
Marple Coronation Fest | Sunday 7 May | 12pm-11pm
Market Street and Derby Way, Marple
This free event will be a 'jam-packed day', featuring Marple bars and eateries.
Comedian Peter Piper will make an appearance, and Manchester's DJ Kierno is also involved.
A description from the organisers reads: "Come and join us for a jam-packed fun day – drummers, choirs, live bands, comic compères and a DJ.
"Marple will be rocking. Come and see us create 1,000 Charlies to celebrate King Charles III's coronation."
Unfortunately, Stockport Council will not be showing the coronation on a big screen. Big screenings will, however, be shown in Manchester city centre; in Piccadilly Gardens or in Manchester Cathedral for free.
