M60 near Stockport Pyramid fully re-opens after eight-vehicle crash

The M60 near Stockport Pyramid has fully re-opened following an eight-vehicle crash on Monday morning (7 July).
Since the incident took place, crews were working throughout Monday and Tuesday to re-open the road, in a massive clean-up operation.
The anti-clockwise direction had partially re-opened yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 8 July) - however, the motorway was only fully re-opened early this morning (Wednesday 9 July).
The crash had left debris and diesel strewn across the road, and had also damaged the central barrier.
It had involved several heavy goods vehicles, cars, and a van.

One of the lorries had crossed through the central motorway barrier and had struck several lamp columns.
Another of the lorries had also shed its load of beer barrels onto the motorway, causing further carnage.
Further still, fuel tanks were ruptured in the collision which left diesel spread across the carriageway in both directions.
Fortunately, nobody sustained serious injuries in the crash.
In a statement on social media, a spokesperson for National Highways said: "All lanes have reopened in both directions on the M60 clockwise in Greater Manchester between J25 and J21 near Stockport.
"Thank you for your patience, please have a safe onward journey."
