A local outdoor activities centre has been awarded a £1,000 grant to help improve its services.

Seven Springs, based near New Mills / Disley, offers outdoor activities for youngsters from Stockport and beyond.

It has accommodation facilities, and 32 acres of inspiring landscape. It has hosted Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers, Scouts, school and charities, Duke of Edinburgh award groups and other youth organisations.

The grant was awarded by Benefact Group, a national group which regularly donates to charitable causes such as Seven Springs.

Mark Hews, chief executive at Benefact, said: "We know that £1,000 can make a huge difference to the incredible work that charities do and we're looking forward to seeing how this financial boost will change lives for the better."

Given that Seven Springs is staffed entirely by volunteers, such a donation will go a long way to helping the centre provide their invaluable services - introducing youngsters to the great outdoors!
