Stockport County FC has recently signed two players on free transfer: defender Ibou Touray and forward Billy Chadwick.

Ibou Touray | Defender

Touray was the first signing of the summer, on a free transfer from Salford City.

The defender leaves Salford as their record appearance maker, playing 272 times over a six-year spell; he played 45 out of 46 games last season, missing out one game for international duty with Gambia.

The 28-year-old was a key part of the Salford side which secured promotions from the National League North and the National League, and also won the Papa John's league cup.

He was voted club's supporters' and club Player of the Year.

In his first interview for County, Touray described being 'really excited', and mentioned that manager Dave Challinor thought he would be 'perfect'.

"I've played here a lot of times, and I've always enjoyed playing against these fans", he said. "I've always found the atmosphere unbelievable, so I'm glad to be here.

"Everyone knows the target of County this season, so hopefully I can help achieve that goal."

He added that fans can expect his characteristic consistency, energy, commitment and tenacity, as well as his crossing ability.

"Everyone knows I can put a good cross in the box", he says, in reference to his nine assists last season.

Billy Chadwick | Forward

This Hull City Academy player also came on free transfer, and benefits from years of experience at a number of different clubs in a number of different leagues across the UK.

The 23-year-old forward attracted interest from a number of other clubs, and thus County are 'delighted' that Billy chose the club.

Director of football, Simon Wilson, said: "Billy is a player we are all quietly excited about. There's a lot to like about him – historically a midfielder at Hull, successful at Halifax as a winger and then produced a one in two record as a striker at Boston most recently.

"He's had to overcome adversity with loan moves that didn't work out, and overcoming a significant injury which shows his resilience too.

"We're going to have a good look at him in pre-season, to make the decision of if he stays in with us for the upcoming campaign or he continues getting games via a loan to further his development."

First team manager, Dave Challinor, said: "I'd like to welcome Billy to the club. He's a player we believe has the potential to really kick on and we have a clear developmental plan in place for him.

"We all feel he's younger than his years if you like, as he's had a bad time with injury over the past few years.

"He's shown signs of getting back to himself in a recent loan and this opportunity hopefully gives him the platform to get back to his pre-injury level, have an impact on our first-team squad, and become a win, win for everyone."
