Stockport fans praised by Luton supporters as County bow out of cup final

Stockport County suffered a heart-wrenching defeat in Sunday's Vertu Trophy final (12 April), losing 3-1 to Luton Town.
Although Dave Challinor's side took an early 1-0 lead, County sadly went on to concede three goals - meaning Luton took home the trophy in what has come to be called the 'El Hattico', in honour of the two sides' shared 'Hatters' nickname.
Around 10,000 fans travelled to see the Northern Hatters at Wembley Stadium.
And although the game ended in defeat, Luton fans praised both the spirit of the County players and their fans.
Speaking after the match, one Luton fan said: "(Stockport's) fans were fantastic. If we don't get in the play-offs I'll be supporting County."
Another added: "I have to say that I was really impressed by the Stockport fans. They are all really friendly, really positive, and made a hell of a lot of noise - so credit to them."
Said one: "No hard feelings, Stopfordians. One (Luton) Hatter to another, I wish all of County the best of luck in the play-offs, if you make it."
And another: "Fair play to all who travelled. We wish you the very best, from a fellow Hatter."
And in an emotional moment during the game, both sets of Hatters fans made a huge round of applause in the 13th minute in honour of Noah Campbell, a young Luton fan who died in a car crash earlier this month, aged just 13.
So, a disappointing defeat for County maybe, but there was no lack of fair play on or off the pitch. And the League One play-offs are still very much on the cards.
