County held by Aldershot | FA Cup Round Two | Aldershot Town 2-2 Stockport County
Stockport County met some stiff opposition from Aldershot Town this weekend, as the National League side held the Hatters to a draw in the FA Cup second round.
The game got off to a bad start for County, when Josh Stokes' strike took a deflection off Southam-Hales, eluding Hinchliffe and making it 1-0 in 10 minutes for the hosts.
County responded quickly, however, after Neil Byrne netted an absolute worldie from the edge of the box.
The momentum from County continued after half time, as Paddy Madden converted a close range shot following an assist from Nick Powell, making it 2-1 after 46 minutes.
20 minutes later, however, Aldershot got back in the game. The hosts cut open the County defence leaving Stokes one-on-one with Hinchliffe - the former coolly converted to make it 2-2.
Although some County fans see the FA Cup as a distraction from League Two and the ultimate goal of promotion, many others are looking forward to the upcoming replay at Edgeley Park.
The winner will face West Bromwich Albion in the third round.
County arguably have the squad depth for further progression in the cup, and there is nothing wrong, after all, with adding a good FA Cup run to County's already impressive form.
