Stockport County's FA Cup hopes came to a disappointing end last night following a 0-1 loss at home to National League side Aldershot.

County missed the mark on a number of occasions, including when a Tanto header was ruled out as offside.

Aldershot found the back of the net in the 88th minute, when Olly Scott bundled home a goal from the penalty box.

Manager Dave Challinor was strongly critical of County's performance in his post-match interview.

"I don't feel sorry for what's happened. Managing for 14 years, I can count on one hand the times I've been embarrassed by my team's performance. Tonight was one of them.

"Nowhere near good enough - it's a huge worry and a huge concern, because we've got a big three weeks ahead of us.

"We've got five games against - without being disrespectful - better sides than Aldershot…

"I came here two years ago, and I can quite happily say I've never been this angry. I have no issue with players' performances if we see our identity out there on the football pitch.

"We, as a group, ran over National League teams 18 months ago. Some of the players out there [tonight] played in that National League title-winning side [...] and they were nowhere near it.

"There was a lack of everything. A lack of wanting to get on the ball, a lack of wanting to pass the ball, a lack of wanting to run forward and catch the play up…

"We were so far off in every facet, that it becomes difficult to point to individual things that have to improve. Every single part of our game has to improve in three days' time, or we get beaten by Sutton again on Saturday."

"That was as bad a performance as there has been since I've been at this football club."
