The Chestergate pub in Stockport town centre - famous for viral videos of its karaoke nights - is undergoing a refurbishment.

The pub closed on 5 January for an extensive internal refit, and is due to re-open on Friday 16 January.

A spokesperson promised the pub was "still the Chestergate we know and love. "We're just polishing it up", they said, "and making it even better!"

"The pub you all know and love is getting a glow up."

The new design features an alternate colour scheme and a lovely new painted ceiling.

As well as its karaoke videos, which garner hits from around the world, the Chestergate is also known as being the favourite spot of the late Dancing Queen Molly, who featured in many of the videos herself and developed a cult following among fans the world over. Molly passed away in September 2025 at the age of 86.
