Person pronounced dead following incident on Stockport to Crewe railway line

A person has been pronounced dead after emergency services were called to a serious incident on the Crewe to Manchester railway line this morning (January 9).
The fatality happened at 10.20am on the line by Maw Green Road, with the incident not being treated as suspicious.
All lines between Crewe and Stockport are currently closed with services being delayed or cancelled.
British Transport Police told Nub News: "Officers were called to the line near Sandbach railway station at 10.20am today (9 January), following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Avanti West Coast, Northern and Transport for Wales services are all affected by the disruption.

"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

National Rail said: "The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Stockport and Crewe.
"Whilst the emergency services carry out their work, all lines between these stations are closed.
"Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised."
Officers from Cheshire Police are currently supporting British Transport Police at the scene of the incident.
