Woodley chippy named among semi-finalists at top national awards

A Woodley-based chippy is in the running for a prestigious national award - again.
Taylors Fish & Chips has been named among the country's top 20 takeaways at the National Fish & Chip awards, and they're also semi-finalists in the Field to Frier category.
The awards, which run annually, aim to recognise outstanding food and service in the fish & chip industry.
Among the top 20 takeaway hopefuls are a range of establishments stretching from Aberdeenshire through to Devon.
Taylors isn't just the only Stockport entry on the list - they're also the only takeaway from Greater Manchester.
Further still, it's the second year running that the Woodley takeaway has made the top takeaway rankings.
The team said they were 'absolutely made up' to have gotten this far.
"The whole team works incredibly hard, but this year feels different", Taylors told Nub News.
"We're stronger than ever and I genuinely believe we have what it takes to go all the way.
"This year also marks 60 years of Taylors, after the business began back in 1966.
"What a way it would be to celebrate that anniversary by bringing the award home to Woodley.
"When the awards asked why we thought Taylors should win, we used actual comments from our customers in the entry.
"Reading what they had written about our food, our team and what the shop means to the community made us really proud and quite emotional.
"We're incredibly proud to represent Woodley and Stockport again."
Over the next few months, Taylors and the other nominees will face a 'comprehensive evaluation' from a panel of industry experts, covering product quality, hygiene, sustainability, customer service, and industry knowledge.
The same goes for the Field to Frier category, which specifically rewards businesses for their product expertise, sourcing knowledge, environmental and business acumen, and, naturally, tastiness.
"The Field to Frier semi-finalists are incredibly serious about what they serve and the effort they put in to making chips is extraordinary", a spokesperson for the National Fish & Chip awards said.
"They work closely with British farmers who operate at world-class level, the participants are studying everything from soil conditions and preparation methods to oil temperature, with science-like precision.
"The line-up is exceptional, and we are appreciative of all the innovation which continues to keep fish and chips relevant and incredibly tasty."
