Bramall Hall roof repairs complete following major restoration project

Bramall Hall's roof is ready to endure another few centuries.
That's thanks to a major restoration project which has fixed some of the previous roof's waterproofing issues, making the building weathertight and protecting the treasures within.
The scaffolding around the building is now down, leaving new roof tiles, ridge tiles and replacement finials.
Furthermore, the Hall's iconic bellcote and bell have been lifted back into place after having undergone some TLC.
With the repairs complete, the hall is now open and ready for Christmas, which Stockport Council says will make this festive season 'extra special'.
The project was funded by a £1.6m grant from the UK government's Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
Councillor Dan Oliver, cabinet member for communities, culture and public protection at Stockport Council, said: "Bramall Hall is a really special part of Stockport's heritage and we know how much it means to generations of local people, so it's fantastic to see this important restoration work complete.
"A huge amount of care and craftsmanship has gone into protecting the Hall for the future while preserving its historic character. With the work finished, Christmas is a wonderful opportunity to come along and enjoy it."
Much of the old Bramall Hall roof was built in Victorian times, as part of an extensive redesign initiated by the hall's owner Charles Nevill in the late 19th century.
