A Woodley-based chippy has received national recognition at a prestigious awards ceremony.

Taylors, based in Woodley Precinct, was named 'Highly Recommended' in the Best Fish & Chips category at the English Fish and Chip awards.

In what was its inaugural year, the English Fish and Chip Awards aimed to celebrate 'excellence, tradition and innovation' in one of the nation's most beloved industries.

Taylors, which has been based in Woodley since the 1980s, was recognised for their 'excellence from presentation to preparation'.

The chippy faced a top lineup of other eateries across the country.

The judges at the awards were celebrity chef Aldo Zilli, Danny Malin (of Danny vs Food, formerly of Rate my Takeaway), and YouTuber The Chippy Tour.

Speaking of their win, the Taylors team said: "We're incredibly proud to have been awarded Highly Recommended in the Best Fish & Chips category.

"To receive recognition at a national awards ceremony and be acknowledged amongst some of the best fish and chip shops in the country is something we're very proud of.
