Police spot checks reveal worst roads for speeding around Stockport

The A555 Manchester Airport Eastern Link Road has been found to be the worst road for speeding offences in Stockport, during a day of police spot checks.
Officers from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) were deployed across the borough on Wednesday 17 June to conduct spot speed checks at key locations on the local road network.
In just three hours, 97 speeding offences were recorded.
The highest offending roads on the day were as follows:
- Manchester Airport Eastern Link Rd – 38 offences, top speed 71mph
- Kingsway (near M60) – 36 offences, top speed 56mph
- Dialstone Lane – 17 offences, top speed 40mph
- Wellington Rd North – 6 offences, top speed 45mph
"We understand the concerns raised by the community about speeding", a GMP spokesperson said.
"We will continue to use all the tools available to tackle dangerous driving in our area."
