A 78-year-old woman has died following a 'tragic accident' at a Romiley care home.

The woman fell from a window at the care home, Manchester Evening News reports. After being taken to hospital she sadly died as a result of her injuries.

The incident took place at Berrycroft Manor in Romiley around 7.30am on Monday 29 September, leaving staff and residents 'shocked and saddened'.

"Our thoughts and prayers are very much with the family. We extend our heartfelt condolences to them", Mr Blissett said.

"Safety here is paramount and we are working with HSE [Health and Safety Executive] and CQC to ensure this never happens again."

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Shortly after 7.30am yesterday (September 29), officers responded to reports of a concern for the welfare of a woman following a fall at a care home on Berrycroft Lane, Stockport.
