Anybody travelling through Greek Street over the last few months will be hard-pushed not to notice the building work taking place there.

Contractors there are working on a new neighbourhood called 'Stopford Park', which will comprise 442 new homes spread across three new buildings, plus a co-working space in the old art school, which is being converted for that purpose.

Described as 'greater than a development', Stopford Park promises to be a "gateway into a life of culture, arts and entertainment".

Some of the apartments there are already close to ready. New residents will be moving into Bosden - the first of the three new buildings - from June 2026, after apartments there went on sale in March starting from £185,000.

There is a total of 62 apartments in Bosden.

Torkington, the second building, will also be opening soon offering 122 one- and two-bedroom apartments to rent.

The final residential building, Lyme - described as 'the big brother to Torkington' - will be opening in Winter 2028 with 258 one- and two-bedroom apartments.

The co-working offices, meanwhile, will be based in the converted art school, and promise to offer 'creative workspaces'.

Outside the buildings, too, will be a new park which aims to bring 'colour, life and energy' to the middle of Stopford Park.

In a nod to the artistic heritage of Stopford Park and the nearby art gallery, the park will also feature an 'ever-changing canvas of uniquely commissioned work' from local artists.

The development adjoins Greek Street and Wellington Road South, in a roughly 'L' shape pattern.

Work is being carried out by Cityheart, with the scheme as a whole promising to 'transform' the area and mark a 'new chapter' for Stockport.

Penny Langton, marketing director at Cityheart, said: "It's an exciting time to be in Stockport and this is a great opportunity for buyers to put down some roots and be part of something from the start.

"As demand for the apartments build, we can't wait to welcome new residents moving in this summer."
