Two Stockport pubs named among the best in England

Two Stockport pubs have been named among the best 500 boozers in England.
The Magnet in Heaton Norris and The Northumberland Arms in Marple Bridge both made The Telegraph's list for the best spots in the country.
The list has been carefully devised by Will Hawkes, a pub expert who visited all the watering holes on the list in person.
Speaking of his methodology, Hawkes said that the most important things were atmosphere, cosiness and happiness, good beer (particularly cask ale), and 'a sense of place'.
Clearly, these Stockport spots were deemed to tick those particular boxes!
And it's not just The Telegraph singing these pubs' praises. The Magnet recently appeared in National Geographic's 'best boozers' list, and both it and the Northumberland Arms regularly appear among CAMRA's most popular pubs.
Other nearby boozers which appeared on The Telegraph's list were The Baum in Rochdale and Fletcher Moss in Didsbury, as well as a fair few in Manchester itself.
Hawkes said he spent 'months' travelling across England to find these pubs.
"I've trudged across bridges and under dual carriageways, taken ferries, trains, trams, taxis and – many – buses, dodged angry dogs, picked my way across soggy fields and chatted to a wide variety of people", he said.
