The popular Stockport-based BBC sitcom Daddy Issues is returning in what will be its third and final series.

The comedy, starring Aimee Lou Wood and David Morrissey, follows young single mum Gemma as she navigates parenthood.

The BBC confirmed on Tuesday (15 July) that while the star cast will be returning, this will be their final performance as the Daddy Issues cast.

Series three and its Stockport backdrop will be returning to screens in September 2026.

It's currently in production, with the story set to follow on from Gemma (Aimee Lou Wood) and her dad Malcolm (David Morrissey) moving in together to look after Gemma's baby Sadie.

Aimee Lou Wood said: "I'm so happy to be back with David and the brilliant Daddy Issues cast for one final time.

"Gemma and Malcolm are one of the funniest and sweetest comedy double acts on TV, and I've loved being a part of it."

David Morrissey added: "I love doing Daddy Issues so much, such a great cast and crew! So I'm delighted to be coming back to have more adventures with Gemma, Malcolm and the gang!"

Danielle Ward, Writer also said: "I'm thrilled we're getting to make a third and final series of Daddy Issues.

"The Moscrips have a special part in my heart and I'll be forever grateful to Aimee and David for bringing them to life in such a brilliantly funny way."

It comes after a critically-acclaimed second season: Sarah Dempster at The Guardian praised the show at the time for its "sublime one-liners, acerbic wit, daftness, love and joy", and awarded it a five-star rating.

Hello magazine's Nicky Morris similarly said: "The easy chemistry between Wood and Morrissey is what makes this heartwarming comedy so lovable.

"The award-winning actors really are a winning duo in this relatable, funny and moving portrayal of the realities of unexpected parenthood."
