Firefighters tackle car fire in Cheadle which left High Street blocked off

Firefighters were called to Cheadle this morning (Wednesday 16 September) to tackle a car fire which left the high street blocked off.
At around 9am, a parked car burst into flames near the George & Dragon Pub, close to the junction with Ashfield Road.
Crews from Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service have now made the area safe after around an hour on the scene.
A spokesperson told MEN: "At just before 9am today crews were called to a car fire on the junction of High Street and Ashfield Road in Cheadle.
"One fire engine from Cheadle attended, and crews extinguished the fire and made the area safe. They were on the scene for approximately one hour."
