New bar and eatery opens in Stockport Underbanks
Stockport has welcomed another bar and eatery to the Underbanks.
Stanley's is located beneath the St Petersgate bridge, and will serve pizzas, fries, fried chicken, and bar snacks. Visitors can also expect a wide range of drinks: cocktails, beers, spirits, and more.
Typical of the Underbanks, the building itself - located at 13 Little Underbank - is over one hundred years old. Manager Lyndon explains what visitors can expect from the building's newest occupant:
"People can expect an old Victorian style, but with a modern vibe - it will be a comfortable place to sit and chat.

A34 to receive £34m investment to reduce congestion
A highly congested stretch of road in Stockport will see a huge £34m investment from the government.
Improvements to the A34, also known as Kingsway, would see reduced traffic and better connectivity for motorists between Cheadle and Handforth. Walking and cycling routes will also benefit from this scheme along the road, providing new opportunities for active and sustainable travel.
Roads Minister Guy Opperman visited Stockport on November 30 as he confirmed works will begin early next year with an estimated end date of 2027.

Local politicians speak out against 'shocking' Offerton pub closure
Local politicians have spoken out against the closure of the Golden Hind pub in Offerton.
The local favourite closed permanently on 23 November, after 56 years in business.
Rumours of closure began circulating in October, prompting a passionate response from residents and local politicians.

Office space near Stockport Pyramid could become new school for autistic children
Plans have been submitted to convert a vacant office building into a new specialist education school for 50 children.
The proposed school would provide specialist education for children aged 4-19 with autistic spectrum disorders, whose needs are not met in mainstream schools.
The site is on Yew Street, just 50 or so metres south of Stockport Pyramid.
