Stockport is welcoming another bar and eatery to the Underbanks today (1 December)

Stanley's is located beneath the St Petersgate bridge, and will serve pizzas, fries, fried chicken, and bar snacks. Visitors can also expect a wide range of drinks: cocktails, beers, spirits, and more.

Typical of the Underbanks, the building itself - located at 13 Little Underbank - is over one hundred years old. Manager Lyndon explains what visitors can expect from the building's newest occupant:

"People can expect an old Victorian style, but with a modern vibe - it will be a comfortable place to sit and chat. [...]

Stanley's is the latest in a string of exciting new openings in the Underbanks. In just a few months, for example, SJS Smith Jewellery and Alfredo's Social have opened within a few metres of one another. Further still, the historic street could be set for a new Caribbean restaurant.

Lyndon adds: "All these new places will hopefully bring lots of footfall to the area. It will be competitive, but that is a good thing."

Similarly, Alfredo's Social manager Keegan Flowers said: "It's better here than it is in Manchester, where the market is saturated and overpriced.

"It's about building excitement, and giving other people who are looking to invest a bit of reassurance that something can be done, and that change is coming. The more stuff there is down here, the better it is for everyone.

"It's going to be such a nice atmosphere. If all these places have outdoor seating, it's going to be such a lush place to come."
