'Amazing' GCSE results at Stockport Grammar School
Stockport Grammar School has celebrated an 'amazing' set of GCSE results.
A whopping 57 percent of grades are at 9, 8 and 7, and 19 percent of students achieved the top grade of 9.
Among those celebrating amazing results was Clara Zelhof, who achieved seven 9s and two 8s. Clara volunteers at Animal Club and plays as part of numerous musical ensembles including first orchestra and chorus. She is excited to study Biology, Chemistry and Music next year.
William Jones achieved similarly high results, with six 9s and four 8s in a 'super set of results'. He's looking forward to taking Biology, Chemistry, History and Mathematics at SGS Sixth Form.
Meanwhile dancer Phoebe Fox will be studying Classics, Geography and English in September. Phoebe achieved seven 9s, two 8s and an A in her Higher Project Qualification.
Nine GCSEs, including one 9, one 8 and four 7s, mean that quiz captain Arthur Maddison will be studying Classics, English and History during Sixth Form. He was happy that he got strong results in the subjects he is taking forward – such as his 9 in English and 8 in English Literature.
Head of Senior School Mrs Sarah Capewell said: "Congratulations to our pupils receiving their GCSE results today.
"It has not always been easy for this cohort of pupils: joining the school during the Covid pandemic meant that they have had to contend with all the challenges that that brought. However, they have shown such determination and courage to achieve impressive results across a broad range of subjects, learning important skills that will benefit them in the future. I look forward to seeing how they continue to develop in their Sixth Form studies."
