Stockport's very own Robinsons Brewery has been named the best brewing pub at the UK Publican Awards.

The awards, sometimes called the 'pub Oscars', is the UK's premier pub awards ceremony, hosted annually to recognise excellence in the pub sector.

It's famous for its rigorous judging process, which can include anonymous visits and secret diners.

Robinsons said they were 'incredibly proud' to take home the accolade, in what is their first win at the Publican Awards.

This year's awards ceremony in London featured more than 1,500 guests, with a star-studded lineup of hosts.

A spokesperson for Robinsons said: "This award is particularly meaningful to us because it recognises the true breadth of what a great brewing pub company should be.

"It celebrates not only the quality of the beer we brew, but the strength, character and performance of our pub estate.

"For us, it marks a standout moment in our long history as a sixth-generation family brewer, and a major milestone in our ambition to become the UK's number one family brewery."

The awards are organised by The Morning Advertiser, whose editor Ed Bedington said: "These awards are testament to the tenacity and excellence that runs through the pub and bar sector."

"There's no getting away from the fact that there are plenty of challenges for people running pubs right now, but our winners tonight represent the best in the sector, and despite everything thrown at them, they're not taking their eye off the ball and continuing to deliver great experiences for customers and amazing careers for their teams."

The award comes not long after Robinsons completed their new £8.4m brewhouse in Bredbury.

They said the move from their historic Stockport old town spot would allow for a more modern, flexible and sustainable brewing operation, and would redress some of the logistical problems of the existing Hillgate site.
