Even the most unobservant visitor to Stockport town centre will have noticed some of the giant frogs dotted around the streets.

These larger-than-life amphibians - 19 in all - were each painted by a local artist and represented an invention. Together, they formed part of a trail, encouraging visitors to come to the town centre and find them all.

With the trail closed as of 29 September, all 19 frogs are now up for auction, available to the highest bidder.

Simon Charles auctioneers are overseeing the lots. All proceeds will go to charity.

In 2022, the sale of 17 of the previous year's frogs garnered over £37,000 for St Ann's Hospice, and we might therefore expect a similar - possibly higher - amount to be raised this year.

At the time of writing, almost all the frogs stand at a price of £1, with others at £2-3.

However, with 28 days left to go (the auction concludes on 2 November), expect these prices to increase!

The lots are delivery only. Delivery of a frog with its base costs £170 within a 20-mile radius of Stockport, or £250 beyond a 20-mile radius.
