Stockport town centre will face some traffic disruption over the next 12 weeks, while engineering works take place on Great Portwood Street.

The westbound carriageway between the Peel Centre roundabout and the ASDA crossroads will be closed from 7 September.

This is so crews can carry out waterproofing works on Park Bridge.

The eastbound route on the same stretch will remain open.

Access will also be maintained to the Peel Centre through footpaths for pedestrians and diversion routes for vehicles.

Some bus routes may also diverted while works take place; Stockport Council has advised passengers check the Bee Network website before they travel.

"Please follow the signed diversions and allow extra time for your journey while the work continues through the Autumn", a Stockport Council spokesperson said.
