Stockport's GAME branch has relocated to within Sports Direct.

The Prince's Street store closed recently after hosting a closing down sale.

Nub News has reached out to GAME for further information.

For Game, this is one among many similar moves across the UK. In Wales, for example, 11 stores have already relocated to Sports Direct branches.

A manager in Newport cited high rents as the reason for moving.

In England, similar moves have also taken place in King's Lynn, Somerset, Ashford, Bracknell, and more.

GAME has over 200 stores across the UK. The company entered into administration in 2012, but was bought in 2019 by the Fraser's Group for £52 million.

The company faces competition from online retail sites such as Amazon, digital games and gaming subscription services, as well as stores such as Smyths, which has its own gaming section.
